Binance has already contributed over $2 million to support women

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, is renewing its commitment to increase female participation and employment in the Web3 industry, in celebration of International Women’s Day.

Binance has already contributed over $2 million to support women in over 10 countries worldwide through education and mentorship programs, and aims to expand its efforts in the coming year.

In 2022, Binance Charity donated $2 million to fund more than 36,000 Web3 scholarships for women. This year, Binance Charity will continue to sponsor courses, initiatives, and scholarships, with a particular emphasis on women and underrepresented groups.

Education is key to encouraging more women to enter the crypto industry, where women account for just 37% of crypto owners. In 2022, women from Germany, Nigeria, Kenya, Brazil, France, South Africa, and Ukraine received scholarships to study blockchain and cryptocurrency-related courses at universities, institutions, and charitable organizations.

To mark International Women’s Day, Binance Charity is providing an additional $100,000 to Georgia’s Innovation & Technology Agency (GITA) to fund Web3 education and training for females. Binance Academy will provide the instructional material for GITA Web3 courses.

While women account for less than 5% of crypto-founded firms, Binance is one of the few crypto enterprises co-founded by a woman, He Yi, in 2017. There are currently around 292 firms in the cryptocurrency industry founded by women out of more than 10,000 companies.

Binance co-founder and chief marketing officer He Yi said, “As one of the few female leaders in the industry, I believe that we have a mission, through Binance Charity and Binance Academy, to help more women understand web3 and blockchain technology. Our education and internship programs aim to empower young women with knowledge and skills ready for industry disruption.”

In addition to scholarships, Binance is also offering female mentoring programs, talent workshops, training seminars, and talks to further support women in the Web3 sector. By prioritizing female participation and education, Binance is taking an important step towards a more inclusive and diverse crypto industry.
