In a compassionate response to the recent devastating earthquake in Morocco, cryptocurrency exchange giant Binance has stepped forward with a generous pledge of millions of dollars in Binance Coin (BNB) to provide aid relief for the affected communities.

The earthquake, which struck on September 8, had a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale and resulted in a tragic loss of at least 2,000 lives in Marrakech, Morocco’s fourth-largest city.

Binance announced on September 11 that they are launching an airdrop initiative, committing to distribute up to $3 million worth of BNB to users residing in the areas impacted by the earthquake.

Changpeng Zhao, the founder and CEO of Binance, expressed his deep sympathy for the Moroccan people, describing the earthquake as “devastating.” He extended his heartfelt condolences to the country and its residents during this challenging time.

Furthermore, Changpeng Zhao encouraged Binance users who were fortunate enough to remain unscathed by the earthquake to consider redirecting the funds received to those who are in dire need.

He stated, “For Moroccan users who receive these donations but are unimpacted by the earthquake, we ask them to pass the funds on to those most in need.”

To ensure the funds reach the right hands, Binance will employ a proof-of-address protocol, which was conducted before the tragic disaster struck.

Those residing in the Marrakech-Safi province, the area most severely affected by the earthquake, can expect to receive $100 worth of BNB directly credited to their Binance accounts.
