The Holonym Foundation has acquired Gitcoin Passport to create a leading Proof of Humanity solution. This move will allow Human.tech to distribute 34.5 million zero-knowledge (ZK) credentials to Gitcoin Passport’s 2 million users. This is expected to produce over three times the identity proofs of Worldcoin.

With this acquisition, Holonym Foundation aims to become a leader in Sybil detection and privacy-focused on-chain reputation. They plan to merge their Human Key technology with Gitcoin Passport’s identity verification system.

Human.tech is designed to enhance financial independence, privacy, and personal freedom. It offers secure solutions for financial access, authentication, and private identity verification, backed by a strong cryptographic network.

Gitcoin Passport will be rebranded as Human Passport to reflect its role as a Proof of Humanity tool. This new identity protocol will allow Web3 users to easily manage their data and online authentication. Holonym Foundation’s CEO, Shady El Damaty, emphasized the importance of digital identity that protects privacy and gives individuals control over their data.

Kevin Owocki, the founder of Gitcoin Passport, noted that the platform has always aimed to empower individuals while preserving their privacy. With the transition to Human.tech, the Passport will evolve into a more robust identity layer that promotes human dignity and trust online.

Gitcoin Passport is widely used across major blockchain ecosystems and has over 110 partners. It has secured more than $200 million in airdrops through its Proof of Humanity Score, making it a key player in preventing Sybil attacks and ensuring fair token distributions.

The Human Passport will enhance its services with zero-knowledge capabilities for a private on-chain reputation. Holonym’s goal is to establish digital rights for data ownership, security, and privacy, making the Internet a safer place. The foundation aims to align technological advancements with essential human values through Human.tech.
