A recent survey shows that most American voters oppose President Donald Trump’s plan to create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. This proposal aims to establish a government-backed stockpile of digital assets.

However, it faces significant resistance from both Democrats and many Republican voters. While some support exists within the crypto industry, public sentiment is largely skeptical.

The survey, conducted from March 8 to 10, 2025, included over 1,000 likely voters. More than half of the respondents disapprove of the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. The opposition is particularly strong among Democrats, with a clear majority against the plan. Many Independents also share this disapproval.

Trump has signed an executive order to set up the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, which will initially use Bitcoin that is already owned by the government. To avoid burdening taxpayers, the Treasury and Commerce Departments are tasked with finding budget-neutral ways to acquire more Bitcoin. Despite these efforts, the plan continues to attract criticism, reflecting wider concerns about government investment in digital assets.

The survey also reveals that many Americans believe the government should cut its financial support for cryptocurrency and blockchain development. A significant number of respondents favor reducing federal funding in this area, while only a small percentage think investment should increase. Instead, voters prioritize funding for social programs like Social Security and Medicare, as well as infrastructure projects.

This contrast highlights a gap between the interests of crypto advocates and the general public. While digital assets are gaining traction in financial markets, they are not a top priority for most voters.

As Trump advances his crypto policies, he faces the challenge of aligning government initiatives with voter expectations. Balancing innovation with fiscal responsibility will be crucial. The debate over federal involvement in cryptocurrency is expected to continue as policymakers adapt to the changing landscape of digital finance.
