Tether and the City of Lugano recently celebrated the unveiling of a life-sized statue dedicated to Satoshi Nakamoto, the enigmatic creator of Bitcoin.

This event took place during the third annual Plan ₿ forum on October 25, a collaborative initiative aimed at fostering the adoption of Bitcoin and blockchain technology in Lugano.

The statue, located at Villa Ciani, is designed to reflect the mystery surrounding Satoshi and the innovative spirit of Bitcoin. Its unique design allows it to appear to vanish from view depending on the observer’s angle, symbolizing Satoshi’s choice to remain out of the public eye.

Paolo Ardoino, Tether’s CEO, emphasized that the statue represents the profound influence of Bitcoin and the principle of decentralization, highlighting Satoshi’s decision to step back and empower the community. Michele Foletti, the Mayor of Lugano, added that the statue not only pays tribute to Satoshi’s legacy but also represents the city’s ambition to be a leader in digital innovation.

The unveiling comes on the heels of a recent HBO documentary that claimed to have identified Satoshi Nakamoto, although the individual suggested has since denied these claims.

This situation has raised concerns among some in the crypto community, including Peter Todd, a notable cryptographer, who expressed worries about safety following the documentary’s revelations.
