The Algorand Foundation, in partnership with Bolt’s World’s Largest Hackathon, announced the winner of their blockchain hackathon challenge. Algorand was the exclusive blockchain partner of the hackathon, creating a challenge for developers to build an app on Algorand where blockchain powers trustless payments, verifiable data, user-owned identity, or programmable digital assets—all with speed, simplicity, and global scale.
Blockchain challenge participants were equipped with Algorand’s best-in-class developer tools that make it seamless for Web2 developers entering Web3 to access Algorand’s resilient network with instant finality, consistently high throughput, and low fees. A total of $1 million in prizes was awarded to hackathon participants, with the blockchain challenge winner, Startsnap.fun, receiving $25,000. Startsnap.fun is a platform that allows developers building in public to share their live or in-progress projects with the community for feedback and support. Hackathon participants are encouraged to post their projects to Startsnap.fun to continue building and sharing progress with the Algorand community.
The Algorand Foundation and the judging panel identified five additional exemplary projects built on Algorand that will receive AWS credits and bridge services from Algorand: Algopay, Storyloom, RandCash.app, BioPay, Fart NFT Maker.
“Algorand is committed to supporting developers at every step of their blockchain journey. We’re proud to provide resources for developers to easily start building on the Algorand blockchain and take advantage of our instant finality, high throughput, and low fees. Algorand is enterprise-grade by design and ready to support any builder looking to make the jump to Web3,” said Brian Whippo, Head of Developer Relations at Algorand Foundation.
The Algorand Foundation looks forward to supporting these projects through Mainnet launch to help them become viable businesses. The Foundation offers several programs to support early-stage companies, including Web3 Masterclasses, startup challenges, and the Algorand Accelerator. About Algorand Foundation
Algorand’s mission is to power a world where information has integrity and innovative ideas can scale. The Algorand Foundation supports Algorand’s rapidly growing ecosystem by providing a best-in-class developer environment, supporting key infrastructure and setting technical standards, offering comprehensive support to builders and entrepreneurs, and providing the framework for decentralized governance. Launched in 2019, the Algorand (ALGO) blockchain has grown into a vibrant ecosystem of developers, entrepreneurs, and enterprise partners that benefit from institutional-grade certainty and resilience. Its low fees, instant finality, and minimal carbon footprint appeal to the protocol’s millions of retail users, and developers of all kinds appreciate the ability to use common programming languages like Python and Typescript. Builders on Algorand are creating protocols and companies that solve important problems at a global scale: instant payments in war and disaster zones, self-sovereign identity for the disenfranchised, supply-chain traceability for global commerce, permissionless protocols addressing financial inclusion, and the creation of entirely new markets through tokenization, to name a few.
