Jack Dorsey, the co-founder and CEO of Twitter, recently announced that he will donate $1 million per year to the encrypted messaging app Signal.

In addition, Dorsey said that this donation is part of his broader effort to promote open internet development and ensure that social media is not controlled by a single entity or group of entities.

In a blog post, Dorsey also voiced his concerns about the current state of Twitter and its lack of resilience to corporate and government influence.

Furthermore, he also criticized the harassment of Twitter’s staff and said that more grants like the one to Signal will be coming in the future.
