Romania’s National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics (ICI Bucharest) is driving Web3 adoption with the launch of a non-fungible token (NFT) trading platform.

The platform, called ICI D|Services, is an NFT marketplace that allows institutional and public users to mint, manage, and trade NFTs. ICI Bucharest has shifted its focus to the blockchain, Web3, and NFTs due to their increasing popularity across the world.

The platform is aimed at creating a bridge between public and private sector institutions and users in Romania. The launch of the platform will feature five unique NFT collections, developed in collaboration with Romanian sportspeople, organizations, and institutions.

The project has been backed by the Romanian government through the Secretariat-General and the Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization.

Dr. Paul Niculescu-Mizil Gheorghe, the blockchain laboratory coordinator at ICI Bucharest, believes that support for innovative projects like ICI D|Services will enhance Romania’s economic potential by generating new revenue streams and fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
