This integration, now live on mainnet, unlocks permissionless cross-chain tokenization and transfers for Flow applications as the next generation of innovative consumer apps enter Axelar’s multichain Web3 ecosystem.
Known for powering mainstream consumer applications like NBA Top Shot, Ticketmaster and CryptoKitties, Flow is a consumer-focused blockchain platform that has established itself as a leader in digital collectibles, gaming and DeFi. Its recent Crescendo upgrade enhanced interoperability by allowing Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) developers to build on Flow and transfer assets seamlessly. With Axelar integration, Flow-based applications gain access to broader cross-chain liquidity and applications across 70+ blockchains, including chains like Avalanche, BNB Chain and the Cosmos ecosystem – with more soon on mainnet via coming Axelar MDS connections.

This has replaced inflation-based rewards, and is aligned with a proposed mechanism that would send AXL transaction fees to a burn address (subject to on-chain governance vote).
