Phoenix, a decentralized AI compute network, has partnered with TandemAI, one of the leading AI drug discovery technology firms, to deploy TandemAI’s state-of-the-art AI drug discovery platform TandemViz on Phoenix’s AI compute layer SkyNet. The partnership will enable a custom lightweight version of the platform to run on SkyNet’s AI node network and will allow research organizations, labs, and pharma companies to utilize the system starting at zero cost and scale usage with significantly reduced cost.

AI drug discovery is one of the new frontiers in vertical applications of AI and has revolutionized the way clinical research and drug R&D are conducted, enabling significantly lower costs and development timelines. The significance of this partnership and integration lies firstly in the business model innovation – once a high-cost and computationally intensive AI solution that was only accessible to large corporations now custom-tailored and made easily accessible to smaller entities such as individual researchers and labs. This would also be unprecedented in the decentralized AI and DePIN space – deploying such a critical use-case industry solution on decentralized architecture.

This development is also largely relevant to the burgeoning DeSci (decentralized science) space, in that now it can be enhanced and complemented by infusing industry-specific AI research tools, broadening the scope of value delivered by DeSci players. One can also imagine an array of DeSci DAOs providing grants and funding for particular causes, where substantial value can be created by providing subsidies for AI and computing infrastructure as well as software to advance the research of these causes.

TandemAI is one of the fastest growing AI drug discovery firms, started by industry veteran Lanny Sun, who previously founded Silicon Therapeutics, which merged with Roivant, a publicly-listed bioscience giant started by Vivek Ramaswamy, previously co-chair of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). TandemAI has over 350 employees and over 50 award-winning AI and computational chemist scientists, with over 80 large pharmaceutical clients worldwide.
