Saga has launched Metropolis.lol, a decentralized Layer-1 blockchain tailored for AI agents. This platform merges blockchain and AI, aiming for scalability and growth. Collaborating with Virtuals Protocol, Eliza Labs, Wayfinder Foundation, and ai16z, Saga seeks to create a vibrant ecosystem for intelligent agents.
Metropolis.lol serves as an open-source agent runtime, providing developers with tools to create AI-driven applications. Saga refers to it as a “reality arbitrage protocol,” focusing on a decentralized society where AI agents can function and evolve seamlessly.
Virtuals Protocol is crucial in this ecosystem, powering the Metropolis Butler Agent for smooth agent interactions. Eliza Labs enhances AI capabilities through the ElizaOS framework, while Wayfinder Foundation improves agent navigation across multi-chain blockchains.
This launch follows Saga’s previous advancements, including Mainnet 2.0, which transformed blockchain economics. A partnership with Uniswap introduced autonomous chain deployment, allowing agents to manage Chainlets independently. The upcoming Liquidity Integration Layer (LIL), set for Q1 2025, aims to boost cross-chain liquidity, enhancing AI-powered economic systems.
The interest in AI agents is growing in the blockchain sector. Following Saga’s announcements, the VIRTUAL token, linked to the Virtuals Protocol, rose by 30%, reaching $3.73. This surge indicates rising enthusiasm for AI technologies, especially in gaming, where Virtuals Protocol collaborates with Illuvium to develop realistic in-game characters.
The trend is not limited to gaming. Financial leaders like Franklin Templeton predict AI agents will transform financial ecosystems. Multicoin Capital anticipates it will drive blockchain innovation by 2025. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also highlight the potential of AI agents, viewing them as a significant opportunity in technology.
