New roadmap outlines a bold commitment to simplifying blockchain user experience and empowers developers to build innovative solutions at scale – all based on Algorand’s mature blockchain infrastructure.
The Algorand Foundation has launched its 2025+ roadmap, outlining a bold strategy to scale real-world blockchain adoption. The roadmap focuses on four key areas: reaffirming Web3’s core values, simplifying the blockchain user experience, accelerating market-driven innovation, and delivering consistent protocol upgrades. With over six years of continuous uptime, support for 10,000+ transactions per second (TPS), and instant finality, Algorand is one of the most mature layer-1 blockchain networks in the world, now poised to double down on real utility.
The roadmap centers around four pillars: reaffirming Web3’s core values (decentralization, governance, economic sustainability); accelerating mainstream adoption by reducing friction for developers, businesses, and users; enabling cutting-edge use cases in stablecoins and tokenization, agentic payments, and self-sovereign identity; and future-proofing blockchain security and privacy with advances in post-quantum and programmable cryptography.
Key product highlights include:
- Project King Safety – A redesigned protocol economic model to enhance long-term sustainability and network security, scheduled to roll out through 2026.
- xGov Governance – A fully on-chain, community-led governance framework to manage grant allocation, launching in Q3 2025.
- Algokit 4.0 – An updated developer toolkit optimized for AI-assisted coding and faster building on Algorand. It includes composable smart contract libraries, an intuitive key-value store, and new SDKs including Rust, Swift, and Kotlin, launching in 1H 2026.
- Intermezzo – A custodial API suite built on HashiCorp Vault that enables digital asset custodians to deliver compelling Web2.5 experiences.
- Rocca Wallet – A fundamental redesign of a self-custody wallet tailored for mainstream, non-technical users, built on a standards-based DID/VC framework. A preview in Q4 2025, with a full open-source, white-labeled release in 1H 2026.
- Agentic Security and Identity Framework – A foundational framework to ensure AI agents can be trusted to execute on-chain transactions with constrained autonomy. The ASIF framework is part of a broader, developer-focused strategy, centered around MCP, A2A, and X402, to simplify building agentic payment flows on Algorand.
- Post-Quantum Account Signatures – An innovation complementing Algorand’s Falcon-based State Proofs that secure the Algorand ledger (already live) to secure accounts against future quantum computing threats.
“We’re building infrastructure for the real economy of the future: Systems that make digital identity self-sovereign, agentic payments an everyday reality, and tokenization an important tool for wealth accumulation,” said Staci Warden, CEO of Algorand Foundation. “This roadmap lays the groundwork to onboard a new generation of people and enterprises that need the blockchain-based products of the future, but that don’t need to know what a blockchain is or how it works under the hood.”
“Unlocking mass adoption of blockchain technology also requires a fundamental rethink of the onboarding experience,” said Marc Vanlerberghe, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at Algorand Foundation. “We are systematically identifying and removing all complexity for users, developers, and businesses to enable them to take full advantage of the power of a blockchain.”
“Our entire roadmap is focused on developers and builders,” said Bruno Martins, Principal Architect at Algorand Foundation. “The new tools and frameworks unlock a wide variety of use cases that can be implemented with little effort. We can’t wait to see the new apps that builders will launch on Algorand.”

About Algorand Foundation
Algorand’s mission is to power a world where information has integrity and innovative ideas can scale. Launched in 2019, the Algorand (ALGO) blockchain has grown into a vibrant ecosystem of developers, entrepreneurs, and enterprise partners that benefit from institutional-grade certainty and resilience. Its low fees, instant finality, and minimal carbon footprint appeal to the protocol’s millions of retail users, and developers of all kinds appreciate the ability to use common programming languages like Python and Typescript. Builders on Algorand are creating protocols and companies that solve important problems at a global scale: tamper-proof on-chain credentialing, instant payments in war and disaster zones, self-sovereign identity for the disenfranchised, supply-chain traceability for global commerce, and the creation of entirely new markets through tokenization, to name a few.
