Shiba Inu, the popular meme-based cryptocurrency, is making significant strides in its global adoption efforts, and the next destination on its journey appears to be Toronto, Canada.
Although not explicitly mentioned in Shytoshi Kusama’s recent message, a short video released by the Shiba Inu executive team hinted at exciting developments.
In a tweet, Shytoshi wrote, “Wen is so last year. The real question is.. #WHERE?”. It seems that Shiba Inu’s community has been eagerly asking for an exact date for the launch of Shibarium, the highly-anticipated Layer-2 scaling solution. According to earlier statements from the team, Shibarium is scheduled for release in Q3 of 2023.
Speculations among the Shiba Inu community on social media platforms such as Twitter, Discord, and the SHIB Army’s Subreddit suggest that SHIB Token’s team will be attending this year’s ETHToronto conference.
The rumors point to a potential presence in Toronto from August 13th to 16th, 2023, where a comprehensive presentation of all Shiba Inu-related products, including Shibarium, will take place.
Shibarium, as a Layer-2 scaling solution, aims to address several issues for Shiba Inu. Currently, the meme coin operates as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network.
The transition to Shibarium is expected to unlock new possibilities and opportunities, including faster transactions, cheaper fees, an auto-burning mechanism for Shiba Inu tokens, and scalability for decentralized applications (dApps), games, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The Metaverse, a digital world exclusively for Shiba Inu fans, and Shiba Eternity, a blockchain-based collectible card game.
These initiatives will enable members of the SHIB Army to build and interact on a separate blockchain without the need to rely solely on Ethereum.
The choice of Toronto as the potential location for Shibarium’s introduction has sparked speculation among SHIB Army members. Some believe it could be a gesture of gratitude towards Ethereum and its founder, Vitalik Buterin.
This would acknowledge the philanthropic act when Vitalik burned half of the initial supply of $SHIB tokens in a single transaction two years ago.
Inspired by Vitalik’s deed, the Shiba Inu community continues to keep the fire burning. The Shibburn burning tracker reports an astonishing 48 million Shiba Inu tokens burned in the last 24 hours, marking a significant increase of 1117.32% compared to the previous day.
