Bitget teams up with Jambo to fund a telecom satellite launch

Bitget, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has partnered with Jambo to support a telecom satellite launch aimed at enhancing decentralized access in emerging markets. Jambo plans to raise $5 million through a token sale on Bitget’s LaunchX platform to expand its blockchain ecosystem and facilitate this project.

This collaboration is expected to increase Bitget’s visibility while allowing Jambo to integrate its blockchain communication hardware. Jambo, launched in 2022 and referred to as “the WeChat of Africa,” previously introduced a blockchain-based phone with Aptos and is now pursuing this satellite initiative.

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen emphasized the alignment of both companies’ visions, stating that Jambo’s goal of connecting the world through blockchain complements Bitget’s mission to support transformative projects. By backing Jambo’s satellite program, Bitget aims to bridge the digital divide and enhance Web3 potential in underserved areas.

Jambo’s native token, ‘J,’ will be crucial for its DeFi ecosystem and is set to launch via Bitget‘s LaunchX. CEO James Zhang noted that the satellite launch would help integrate Jambo’s hardware, creating new opportunities for its ecosystem.

This initiative could also boost Bitget’s profile. Despite the BGB token reaching an all-time high in December, it faced corrections, prompting the company to burn 800 million tokens to stabilize its value. A high-profile project like the satellite launch could generate positive attention for Bitget.

Additionally, Bitget is looking to expand globally, using Lithuania as a hub for MiCA compliance in the EU, which may increase demand for the BGB token. However, Jambo’s satellite launch may require more than the planned $5 million, as costs typically exceed $10 million. The collaboration signifies a major step toward innovation in blockchain communication and services in emerging markets.
